Doug Brown takes Sportsbet helm as Flutter reshuffles APAC leadership
Flutter Entertainment is promoting Doug Brown to Sportsbet CEO from 1 June 2026. It’s a significant reshuffle of the company’s Asia-Pacific operations. The move comes as Barni Evans steps into a newly created regional role, overseeing Flutter’s betting portfolio across APAC and emerging markets.
Consolidation and Expansion
Evans has spent his time at Sportsbet consolidating operations and positioning the business for sustainable growth. He’s not going anywhere, though. Flutter’s keeping him “closely connected to the business” while he tackles strategy across a considerably broader geographic footprint.
Brown’s promotion is very much from within the ranks. The guy’s been at Sportsbet for 11 years, holding senior roles as COO, chief product officer, and chief growth officer. Flutter credits him with steering the company’s strategic pivot towards product innovation and customer-centric expansion.
Leadership Continuity with Fresh Momentum
The transition shows Flutter’s confidence in Brown’s ability to maintain momentum and drive the next phase of development. In his statement, he’s leaning into continuity rather than radical change, focusing on customer experience and near-term market opportunities.
Evans’s public backing of his successor speaks volumes about how collaborative this handover is. “Doug knows the business inside out and has played a major role in getting us to where we are today,” Evans said. Evolution, not departure.
Broader Flutter Restructuring
The Sportsbet reshuffle is part of a wider leadership refresh across Flutter’s portfolio. FanDuel, the group’s US-facing brand, is also undergoing a CEO transition. Christian Genetski is taking over following Amy Howe’s departure after five years in the role.
And then there’s the financial backdrop. Flutter reported Q1 2026 revenue of $4.3 billion, beating analyst expectations of $4.2 billion. It underlines the strength of the operational platform Brown will now oversee.
