RGB International Pivots to Philippine Online Gaming with Light & Wonder Deal
Malaysia-listed gaming equipment supplier RGB International is making a strategic move into the Philippines’ online gaming sector, securing B2B accreditation and positioning itself as an exclusive distributor for Light & Wonder’s digital content. The expansion signals real confidence in navigating Southeast Asia’s dual market opportunity, where land-based and online gaming increasingly operate hand in hand.
A Calculated Diversification
RGB Ltd’s Philippine branch secured official accreditation from the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp in May, gaining approval to operate as a gaming content affiliate across seven content channels, including electronic casino games. It’s the company’s first venture into online content distribution, though RGB has serious pedigree in physical gaming infrastructure across the region.
Executive director Chuah Hui Jing outlined the strategic thinking at the Global Gaming Expo Asia in Macau. Rather than abandoning its core land-based business, RGB is leveraging existing relationships and technical expertise to build a complementary online operation. The Light & Wonder distribution agreement serves as the anchor for this new vertical, allowing the company to tap into growing synergies between physical and digital gaming at major integrated resorts.
This layered approach reflects what’s happening across the broader industry. As Philippines operators increasingly offer both land-based and online products at the same time, suppliers that can service both channels gain a real edge. RGB’s expanded footprint positions it not just as equipment provider but as an ecosystem partner, helping casinos maintain consistent game quality across all customer touchpoints.
Land-Based Market Resilience
Despite first-quarter weakness across Philippine gaming (aggregate gross gaming revenue fell 15.9% year-on-year), RGB remains bullish on the physical casino opportunity. Chuah noted that major Manila integrated resorts typically cycle through machine replacements at rates around 8 to 10 annually, ensuring steady demand for refreshed gaming floors.
The company operates more than 3,400 active electronic gaming machines across 36 outlets throughout Asia. That kind of operational depth gives it granular visibility into local game performance and player preferences, which in turn informs its broader distribution strategy and helps optimise game selection across both channels.
RGB is also positioned to capitalise on new venue development. The Westside Resort casino complex opens later this year in Manila’s Entertainment City, and such infrastructure expansion, even amid softer market conditions, underscores sustained operator investment in capital refresh.
Vietnam on the Horizon
Beyond the Philippines, RGB is actively monitoring Vietnam’s evolving casino landscape. The company views the Grand Ho Tram’s performance under Vietnam’s refreshed locals-play pilot scheme as a bellwether for broader policy opportunities. With multiple new projects expected to emerge as regulatory frameworks mature, Vietnam represents the supplier’s next frontier for land-based expansion.
The combination of online accreditation in a key market and sustained land-based opportunities across the region suggests RGB has crafted a diversification strategy calibrated to Southeast Asia’s unique gaming dynamics. Whether the online channel ultimately generates material revenue? We’ll see. But the company has secured a foothold in one of the region’s most closely watched markets.
