Yggdrasil Brings Vikings Franchise to Hollywood with Ninth Instalment

Yggdrasil has added another chapter to one of its most successful franchises with Vikings Go to Hollywood, the ninth title in the Vikings Go to series that's been running for over a decade. This time, the Norse warriors are swapping mythical quests for tinseltown glamour, trading Valhalla and Hell for the bright lights of the Walk of Fame.
A New Look for Familiar Heroes
The four Viking characters return in their most polished incarnation yet. Yggdrasil has dressed them in sleek costumes that blend Nordic heritage with modern Hollywood aesthetics. It's a similar approach to what worked in Vikings Go to Vegas, but cranked up considerably. The developer has clearly leaned into the celebrity angle here, and the symbol set reflects that focus entirely.
What's striking is how the studio has managed to keep the franchise's core identity intact whilst pushing it into unfamiliar territory. That's not easy to pull off with a beloved series. According to Michal Szafran, junior game producer at Yggdrasil, balancing innovation with brand loyalty was the central creative challenge.
Mechanics Built for Momentum
Yggdrasil hasn't just reshuffled the scenery. The game introduces a solid mechanical framework designed to keep players engaged. WildFight, a proprietary feature, gives high-paying symbols the chance to transform into Wilds and generate additional winning combinations. Straightforward enough, really, but the Free Spins mode throws in Rushing Wilds, which can apply multipliers up to 5x to existing Wilds for potentially substantial payouts.
The real innovation lies in the Berzerk Rage collection mechanic. This system saves progression between sessions, so players can pick up where they left off. When the Rage bar fills, Berzerk mode activates, triggering Free Spins and converting characters into Wilds during WildFight sequences. It's the kind of feature that creates a genuine sense of progress rather than just spinning endlessly.
A Proven Formula with Nine Lives
The Vikings franchise has been a workhorse for Yggdrasil since launching 11 years ago. That it's now at nine titles speaks volumes about sustained player interest and commercial performance. Vikings Go to Hollywood arrives at a point where the series could easily have run out of novelty. Yet Szafran's comments suggest the team has found fresh angles worth exploring.
Separately, Yggdrasil recently launched 3 Piggies of Bank, which revisits the Three Little Pigs tale in slot form. The studio continues to prove it can work familiar IP into entertaining gaming experiences without relying on lazy execution.
